Just Kids – Patti Smith
I just cracked open Just Kids, Patti Smith’s autobiography (yes, a book with paper pages) , and I cant believe how surprisingly beautiful it is written. I have never felt compelled to write a book review but I think I would like to document my feelings as I progress through this American love story. It is a portrait of two young people: Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe struggling to become artists in New York City during the 60s and 70s.
The story begins with how Patti heard about Robert’s death.Gripping. Sensitive. Graceful yet so very, very sad.
